    QA Level 2 Award in Activity First Aid – Aims and Objectives

     

    The QA Level 2 Award in Activity First Aid (QCF) has two units that Learners are required to complete in order to achieve the qualification.

     

    First Aid Essentials

    • Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider.
    • Be able to assess anincident.
    • Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally.
    • Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally.
    • Be able to recognise and assist a casualty who is choking.
    • Be able to manage a casualty with external bleeding.
    • Be able to manage a casualty who is in shock.
    • Be able to manage a casualty with a minor injury.

    Management of Illness and Injury in Activities

    • Conduct a secondary survey
    • Administer first aid to a casualty with injuries to bones, muscles and joints
    • Administer first aid to a casualty with suspected head, neck and back injuries
    • Administer first aid to a casualty with suspected chest and abdominal injuries
    • Administer first aid to a casualty with thermal injuries
    • Administer first aid to a casualty with eye injuries
    • Administer first aid to a casualty with sudden poisoning
    • Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected major illness
    • Know how to provide First Aid to a casualty who is experiencing the effects of extreme heat or cold

    On succsessfull completion the candidate will receive – QA Level 2 Award in Activity First Aid (QCF)
